The Depth of the Love of Jesus Christ

Jesus is love. A lot of us may struggle with this but Jesus willingly gave everything for us. He laid down His life on the cross, bearing our sins and sorrows, so that we might have eternal life. His love is not merely sentimental or an emotion but it is an active, selfless love that seeks the best for us, even when we don't deserve it.

Romans 5:8-9 NKJV

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.

God Himself is love.

John 4:8 NKJV

He who does not love does not know God, for God is love

Jesus gives the only love that surpasses all understanding—a love that has the power to transform lives and bring hope to the hopeless. He offers a love that forgives any wrong no matter how far we have strayed or how deeply we have fallen. His love is always ready to embrace us with open arms. It is a love that invites us to turn away from our mistakes and embrace a life of righteousness and purpose. We cannot even comprehend this amount of love.

1 John 3:1 NKJV

Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.

Jesus loves unconditionally and sacrificially and love teaches us to love one another as He loved us.

Matthew 5:43-46 NKJV

43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that?

This kind of love knows no prejudice, no discrimination, and no limit. It reaches out to the broken, the marginalized, and the lost, offering healing and redemption.

Ephesians 3:17-19 NKJV

that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— 19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

Jesus’s love urges us to extend a helping hand to the hurting, to speak up for the voiceless, and to share the message of hope with those who have yet to experience His love. Jesus’s love has the ability to mend broken relationships, heal wounded hearts, and bring reconciliation to a divided world. It is a love that has transformed countless lives throughout history and continues to do so today. What an immeasurable love. Our guiding light, our source of strength, and our motivation to love and serve one another. In Jesus’s love, we find true peace, genuine joy, and an everlasting hope. Amen.

1 John 4 7-8 NKJV

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
